Let's do an initial 'stock check' on where we are with our health and diet and identify weak areas and strong ideas, in order to prepare us for success with HFL and track our progress.

I like that the programme is easy for me to do in my own time and my own pace although I think it's useful to be up-to-date in the modules when we have a coaching call.  I enjoy the easy going/relaxed way the videos are done and the visuals provided. I found the Main Module Actions, the Optimum Health Scorecard and the AHEADMAP assessments a helpful focus to assess how well I am doing and have done. My OHS result went from 24 to 28 and my AHEADMAP score went from 206 to 165 to 156. I wasn't expecting to lose so much, if any, weight. I had already gotten back to my pre-40 steady weight of 10.75 stone!

I really appreciate the in-depth content of the course, which, although a lot of information to take on, is explained simply in the teaching videos for each module. The course progresses well and the ideas behind the changes you encourage us to make are sensible and beneficial. The course is very well researched and presented with a wealth of information. The couple of 'catch up' weeks were welcome. 

The visual presentations were good and I liked the way you led into most of them gently with some soft music and views of your garden... with sweet roosters and other furry friends! You have also awakened a desire to get to know some of the classical composers, who have a Christian influence in their music. Thank you! The demo videos were also very helpful (I am a visual learner). I have enjoyed losing a few pounds and I have used the Signature Meal recipe and green smoothie; yumm. I have a desire to get out the water colours I bought a while back and start experimenting with a new skill, yey!!

I make the sour dough bread which I love. I use spelt or wholemeal flour recipes and only had one disaster; when I tried using white spelt instead of wholegrain spelt! What is the time commitment in Health for Life?

You'll need to spend an average of around 1 hour per week watching the bite-size video training lessons and about another 2 hours reading through the materials and planning your action items. Also, you'll need 1 hour to attend or listen to the recordings of the Q&A live Zoom sessions. Your food shopping and meal prep will require some time, but is designed to be minimal and for most people it won't be any more than they are already doing. So that's around half an hour a day, which is a small time investment that will yield huge results over time.

When does the programme start and end?

The programme runs for 12 weeks and you have lifetime access to all of the content, materials, membership site and coaching call recordings. From when you sign up, you get access to the HfL Starting Module and then every week after that you get the next modules released online to you, as well as links to join the live Q&A Zoom calls. After 15 weeks you'll stop receiving links to the Zoom calls and have the option to renew as an Alumni member, to get another 12 weeks of live coaching. Don't worry if you miss any Q&A sessions, they are all recorded for you. How do the meal plans work and are the foods easy to get and prepare?

There are specific meal plans and recipe books in the programme that build upon each other as we go through it. The ingredients and foods are easy to find locally or online and are modestly priced 'normal' foods. The plans contain colour photos for all recipes, as well as a full shopping list, nutritional information and options for snacks. The meals are easy, flexible and designed for the foodie - i.e. they are really delicious. Rest assured, even though you'll be eating cleanly and with optimum nutritional balance, you will not feel deprived and most people discover that they are much more satisfied with this way of eating. Therefore, this is not a 'diet', it's a sustainable way of eating which includes meals that are not only really healthy but you'll love to eat and make for others!

What if I want to eat vegetarian?

My deep Nutritional Science research and study, as well as working personally with many vegetarians and vegans (and being vegan myself for 6 years), has shown me that the very best diet and nutritional approach includes high-quality animal products. So whilst I do not recommend vegetarianism or veganism, I have created a vegetarian meal plan in Health for Life, that substitutes meat with the best plant-based alternatives, so you are well-catered for.

Do I have to buy expensive supplements?

This programme is designed mainly around proven whole food nutrition, lifestyle and detoxification strategies that foster great health and healing. Yes, this programme and meal plans are designed to be anti-inflammatory and I have carefully sought to avoid using commonly allergenic ingredients. There are also options to substitute foods as necessary. Many sensitivities and allergies are related to poor gut health and since we are taking steps to heal the gut microbiome, many people find that their conditions ease and reactions calm down.

I know you're a Ketogenic Diet Nutritionist - is this plan keto?

No, the Health for Life meal plans are not ketogenic. However, they are moderate to low-carb, which means that you'll get the benefits of using fat for fuel and metabolic flexibility but with a bit more leeway in your food choices than with strict keto. You do have the option and tools to go into a healthy ketogenic diet though if you wish, which can accelerate healing, energy and weight loss.

I'm in your Keto Life programme, should I join this?
