Let's do an initial 'stock check' on where we are with our health and diet and identify weak areas and strong ideas, in order to prepare us for success with HFL and track our progress.

Alkaline Minerals
'The blood is the life' (Deuteronomy 12:23). Alkaline minerals are essential for cleansing, oxygenating and building your blood but unfortunately, most people are very deficient in them. We try out easy and great-tasting ways to proactively include alkaline mineral-rich foods into our diet.

Pure Hydration
The reality is that our tap water is toxic and if you do not filter it before drinking, your body has to act as the filter. This causes stress and compromised health, which is hard to pin-point. We look at several excellent water filter options as a major part of the health and healing puzzle.

Our gut and brain are intimately connected, via the gut-brain axis, and are key to achieving good immunity, digestion and mental health. Our gut flora (good bacteria) is like a garden, so we'll tend and weed it with a variety of probiotic and prebiotic foods, and simple nerve-stimulating activities.

You can only achieve deep and restorative sleep, rest and healing when your sleep environment and habits are optimised and your body is in a 'parasympathetic' state (rest and digest). We'll optimise these to help you to get better, unbroken sleep and wake up refreshed.

Healing Fats & Meats
Good fats and proteins are nourishing and essential to your body's good health but carbohydrates are not. However, unhealthy fats are everywhere and causing serious disease and so we need to make proactive, wise choices. We'll switch 'bad fats' for healthy ones and eat liberally, reducing carbs to regulate blood sugar and prevent and reverse metabolic diseases.

Balancing Hormones
Due to huge amounts of toxins we are subjected to in everyday life, most people have hormonal problems - with insulin and blood sugar, thyroid, adrenal glands, cortisol and oestrogen/ testosterone amongst others. I've enjoyed all the videos, especially your relaxed teaching style, which is very easy to listen to. It has all felt very relevant and helpful. The photography at the beginning of each one is lovely and sets the scene well.
I will need to go back and go over some of the materials again as I was often pushed for time and so not as thorough as I would have liked to be.
I'm very aware that this isn't really a 'quick fix' but health for life and it has helped my husband and me to cut down on carbs, and the extra supplements and green smoothies which we have daily must surely be beneficial.

Laura’s HFL programme is a fun way of getting good wholesome nutrition into our bodies. It does exactly what it says: cleanse, heal, restore, energise- body, mind and Spirit. I like that the programme is easy for me to do in my own time and my own pace although I think it's useful to be up-to-date in the modules when we have a coaching call. I enjoy the easy going/relaxed way the videos are done and the visuals provided. Having the Health for Life workbook to use has been great and I can frequently go back and look at my notes.
Apart from weight loss, my facial skin seems better and my nails are stronger too, also the whites of my eyes seem brighter. I feel like some of the aches and pains I had have also gone.

I found the Main Module Actions, the Optimum Health Scorecard and the AHEADMAP assessments a helpful focus to assess how well I am doing and have done. My OHS result went from 24 to 28 and my AHEADMAP score went from 206 to 165 to 156. I wasn't expecting to lose so much, if any, weight. I had already gotten back to my pre-40 steady weight of 10.75 stone!
I would recommend this course to others and have done so because it has literally changed my life for the better.

I have very much enjoyed Health for Life - the recipes are delicious and simple to prepare. I really appreciate the in-depth content of the course, which, although a lot of information to take on, is explained simply in the teaching videos for each module. I particularly enjoyed the practical teaching videos on baking sour dough bread, making Kimchi and a demonstration of making bone broth. The weekly group coaching calls were vital in keeping us all on track, along with helpful tips shared between us.
After 12 weeks, I have increased energy and mental clarity, feel more in charge of my body, improved sleep, improved more normal bowel movements.
My Optimum health score card improved to a score of 26 and my AHEAD Map Report showed an all round improvement, with my total score dropping from 288 to 212.

What have I enjoyed? The food! Seriously, the main thing is increased energy and weight loss, as well as increased mental clarity - these benefits are big. The course progresses well and the ideas behind the changes you encourage us to make are sensible and beneficial. The course is very well researched and presented with a wealth of information. The couple of 'catch up' weeks were welcome.
The visual presentations were good and I liked the way you led into most of them gently with some soft music and views of your garden... with sweet roosters and other furry friends! You have also awakened a desire to get to know some of the classical composers, who have a Christian influence in their music. Thank you! Your approach in the videos is relaxed and engaging and you managed to combine a light-heartedness in balance with presenting the health benefits in a more serious tone. The Zoom calls are useful and I appreciate your open and inclusive style. The HfL membership site is user-friendly and very easy to navigate. The demo videos were also very helpful (I am a visual learner). I have enjoyed losing a few pounds and I have used the Signature Meal recipe and green smoothie; yumm. The menus are well presented and I am sure they will be very tasty and enjoyable and easy to make.

I make the sour dough bread which I love. I use spelt or wholemeal flour recipes and only had one disaster; when I tried using white spelt instead of wholegrain spelt! You'll need to spend an average of around 1 hour per week watching the bite-size video training lessons and about another 2 hours reading through the materials and planning your action items. Also, you'll need 1 hour to attend or listen to the recordings of the Q&A live Zoom sessions. Your food shopping and meal prep will require some time, but is designed to be minimal and for most people it won't be any more than they are already doing. So that's around half an hour a day, which is a small time investment that will yield huge results over time.
The programme runs for 24 weeks and you have 6 months access to all of the content, materials, membership site and coaching call recordings. From when you sign up, you get access to the HfL Starting Module and then every week after that you get the next modules released online to you, as well as links to join the live Q&A Zoom calls. After 6 months you'll stop receiving links to the Zoom calls and have the option to renew as an Alumni member, to get another 6 months weeks of live coaching. Don't worry if you miss any Q&A sessions, they are all recorded for you. There are specific meal plans and recipe books in the programme that build upon each other as we go through it. However, they are moderate to low-carb, which means that you'll get the benefits of using fat for fuel and metabolic flexibility but with a bit more leeway in your food choices than with strict keto.
